My Last Literary Festival

Ilminster Literary Festival

On Wednesday, I spoke at my last literary festival…at least for a while, although I have other events in the pipeline. Speaking at a literary festival is a real thrill for me. Although my first one a year ago was incredibly daunting, I now feel the adrenaline pumping away and it makes me happy when the audience is engaged and asks lots of questions.

Ilminster Literary Festival took place at Monks Yard conference centre just outside the town, and it was close enough for my good friends Nigel and Annika to make the trip. We had lunch with them in the excellent cafe in the complex.

More than sixty tickets were sold for my event, where I was ‘in conversation’ with local sculptor, Mike Lanigan. Lots of people bought the book from Waterstones, which had a stand there.

Reminder! I’m on the Sporting Witness programme on BBC Sounds, June 29th.
