What’s Going On
Keeping you up to date
Over the past few months, I have been working on a sequel to The Tennis Champion Who Escaped the Nazis. It will be mostly about my childhood, and the experiences that influenced me to become a travel writer. There are no Nazis in the story!
Book sales have gone very well, and now I’m looking forward to the Czech edition being published at the end of the year. Meanwhile, my fingers are firmly crossed for a German or Austrian publisher who’d like to translate my book.
No more book talks are planned at the moment, although you can hear me being interviewed on BBC World Service Sporting Witness. My book has been chosen for a few book clubs, and I've gone along to some of them to answer people's questions. I think the main theme is a good subject for discussion.
I've also been writing poetry for the first time ever, and have had six poems published in anthologies – five of them for The Hedgehog Press.
Yesterday, Peter and I gave a talk on travel writing. It was one of the many events at the annual Frome Festival, and eighteen people turned up for it. Last weekend, I also took a stand at the Small Publishers’ Fair in Frome.
I'll blog again as soon as I have more news to share. Meanwhile, if you haven’t done so already, I’d really appreciate a review on Amazon, Waterstones, Goodreads, Net Gallery, or one of the many readers’ platforms.
